Hi, I'm using your K2 Filter and Search module here:
www.lovetoteach.org/search.html

I noticed that by default, it shows ALL results. Is it possible to configure it so it shows 0 results when you first go to the search page?

Attached is a screenshot showing my parameters for the module -

Thanks!

Hello, Nate.

Actually, this should be no results shown by default.

Which page type you have where you placed the module?

Search results are on a K2 Itemlist view:
www.lovetoteach.org/search.html

It's using the "Generic" search results template...

Here is my sh404sef settings for the URL, it seems to be responding as a K2 URL:
index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=69&lang=en-us&task=filter&view=itemlist

Even though my menu item is set to be a Search Results page. Perhaps I need to switch it to one of these other duplicate URL's in sh404sef?

Please help - thanks!

Nate,

You need to remove `&task=filter` from the url. Then, it will be not filter page by default.

I tried switching it to this:
index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=69&lang=en-us&task=search&view=itemlist

After I tried my first search, sh404sef reverted it back to this URL:
index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=69&lang=en-us&task=filter&view=itemlist

Do I need to have separate URL's for Search and Search Result pages?

What is the menu item type supposed to be? Right now mine is set to be the "Joomla search component form or results" but it's using com_k2 in the URL. I'm wondering if I have it set up incorrectly.

For Joomla search, it can be just `index.php?option=com_search`

But, for K2, usually we are using category view, like the following:
`index.php?option=com_k2&view=categories`
`index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category&task=category&id=1`

Yes, it is better to have separate pages for initial and search results view.

Thank you! I created a separate menu item for "Advanced Search Results" as a K2 category menu item type, works great.

However now I'm noticing, core search has 14 results for "Seuss"
www.lovetoteach.org/search.html?searchword=seuss&categories=

K2 Filter search has 12:
www.lovetoteach.org/results.html?fitem_a...duleId=133&Itemid=69

Search for "Test" and you get 74 results with K2 filter and 50 results with core search. Doesn't make sense. Any ideas?

I think I figured out the answer to my own question here: the basic core joomla search is searching the k2 item's TAGS. For example here:
www.lovetoteach.org/by-subject/math/cat-...onnect-the-dots.html

This one is showing up in the "Seuss" search with basic core joomla search but not with K2 Filter module.

Thank you.

Yes, this makes search for tag by exact match, not by text part of tag.
